Founding of Club
Kiwanis Club of Downey was founded on November 6, 1924 . The club began with 35 members and has grown and shrank over the years but is currently growing to assist Kiwanis International in reaching its goal of one million members by 2015. Its current membership consists of 40 members. Over the years, the club has held many fundraisers, including opportunity drawings, peanut sales and other events. We help out in the community in a variety of ways, including sponsoring youth groups, sponsoring adult day care, raising money to benefit children and children’s support groups, and providing scholarships. The club has enjoyed a rich history over the years, with its members coming from fields like accounting, civil service, education, management, and many more.
